UNSHACKLED
Before I experienced Life, I was the cool type; hanging out, getting high and in trouble. My parents were Christians
therefore I was dragged to church every Sunday, and because of it I had purposed in my heart never to enter another after
I turned eighteen. Well, when I turned eighteen I was still going to church every Sunday, but I was enjoying it because I
had become a new creature in Christ Jesus. The Scripture says in Matt: 11:28 come unto
me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.
On April 9, 1980, I was sitting in the back of my school with a friend when
another friend asked me if I wanted to go across the street with her to get high. I said sure, why not. So I went. I noticed
that all the while I was there I did not fill at all comfortable, I felt very dumb and out of place. I could not understand
what was wrong with me. It seemed like the more dope I smoked the more out of place I felt. I tried to light up a cigarette,
but it was to no avail. I could not smoke away the deep conviction I was under. After returning to school I felt very sick.
I told my friends that I would be back that I was going to the nurses office to lie down. As I look back now, I believe that
the Lord made me invisible. It was against the school rules to walk in the halls without a hall pass. But I walked pass plenty
of teachers and not one stopped me. As a matter of fact, none of them even looked my way.
As I reached the nurses office, I ran into the bathroom and closed the door. It was
pitch black in there, and I ran my hand consistently up and down the wall trying to fine that light switch; but it was of
no use, the light switch was simple not there. Then I began vomiting all over the floor and all over myself, and I also began
to shake uncontrollably for I was in the very presence of God. I heard a voice say where are all your friends now? Who can
help you now? I said, You God! I continued vomiting and shaking as the voice continued, Get saved now, for this is your last
chance. If you dont youll be hit by a car. I got saved right there. I was still black in the bathroom, but the thought came
to me to reach back and my hand would go right to the light switch. Praise be to God, it sure did!
The Lord showed me later on that day the car that would have killed me.
Praise God he spared my life, but he does not have to give everyone that kind of chance. However, he does give everyone A
chance; and my friend this could be yours. God is still in the soul saving, life changing business, and he is waiting for
you to invite him into your heart. There is nothing in sin worth losing your soul for. The scripture says in Mark: 8:36 For what shall it Profit
A Man If He Should Gain The Whole World, And Lose His Own Soul? Saint John 3:16 says, For God So Lover The World That HE Gave
His Only Begotten Son That Whosoever Believeth In Him Should Not Perish But Have Everlasting Life.
There
is more to Christianity then going to church every Sunday, singing in the Choir, and being on the usher board. Salvation Produces
a LIFE. How do we find this life? Through Christ, for he said in John 14:6 I am the Way the Truth and the Life, No Man cometh
Unto the Father but by me.
I am now nineteen years old, saved and living my life for God. Oh Friend,
I have peace the no party, joint, quart of beer, sex or anything else in sin could give. For Christ said in St. John 14:27 Peace I leave you, My Peace I give unto
you. The Scripture says in
(11 Corinthians) 7:10 For Godly sorrow worketh Repentance. We
must be tired of sin, tired of being mean and evil, tired of telling lies, tired of stealing, drinking, smoking, tired of
being jealous and hating. Once we have reached this point God is willing and able to help us and give us a brand new life.
How do we find him? The Scripture says in Romans 10:13 Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us sins and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. Romans 10:9-10 reads If thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus Shalt believe
in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, Thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
